🥳 Celebrating 7 years!!!

We are celebrating our SEVENTH year anniversary this March - and we have many surprises planned for you, Ethos family!

First, get ready for our most unique Brew Greatness Anniversary Blend yet! This year, we’ve built on our first barrel-aged experience, and have aged our honey-processed, high-impact “Pacheco” on white oak barrels (by Lugo’s Craft Distillery), along with real Madagascar vanilla beans (by Lakeland's Vanilla Exotics) for 20 weeks - and used it as the “base” for our Anniversary Blend! We complemented the sweet vanilla notes and creamy body with the chocolate and red fruit notes of Poaquil Natural - our most impactful long-term partnership (of 7 years)! We hope you’ll agree that the result is a full flavor party in a cup! Our first roast is tomorrow, March 1st and it’ll be available online until supplies last.

We have also commissioned a special Anniversary souvenir for you this year! One of our local makers (and Ethos fan) here in Lakeland made us some really cool Ethos slate coasters. We’ll be sending one to all our subscribers this month, and also automatically including one on every single order of 3 lbs or more (of any coffee) - for the whole month of March!

Finally, if you’re in the area and would like to celebrate with us in person, we’d like to invite you to stop by our booth at the Downtown Lakeland Farmer’s Market any Saturday this month! Find us at 200 N Kentucky Ave, every Saturday from 8 am - 2 pm - we’ll have FREE “birthday cookies” with any coffee drink purchase for all Ethos subscribers and long-time customers (i.e. our Ethos family!, please tell us your name or ask for the “birthday cookies” if we don’t immediately recognize you). We’ll have them every Saturday until supplies last… our awesome coffee partners at Honeycomb Bakers are making a fresh batch of cookies for us every Friday during the whole month of March so we can celebrate! (By the way, we’ll also be doing a special coffee cupping event at their bakery cafe in Winter Haven (140 6th St SW, Winter Haven, FL 33880) on Sunday, March 12, at 2:30 pm - we’d love to see you there!)

All these are our imperfect attempts to express the immense gratitude and overwhelming joy of celebrating this 7th year of getting to start our day Brewing Greatness and making an impact with you… it’s been about 3.7 million minutes, and we’re still in love with our Ethos, our Brew Greatness motto, our always freshly roasted coffee, and with this journey! (our only complaint would be… the minutes have gone way too fast!)

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you Ethos family for these amazing first 7 years,

💛

Our First FIVE Years! 🎉

We’re officially starting our 5 Year Anniversary celebrations today!

About five years ago, on a beautiful Spring day, Jolian and I made our very first coffee sale at a farmer’s market. We didn’t have a website yet, our logo was (in all honesty) not very good, our packaging was a paper bag with a black-and-white label, and we didn’t know what Instagram was! Yet, the intoxicating aroma of those freshly roasted coffee bags (roasted one by one, in 8-oz batches!) always reminded us we were not there to just sell coffee… we were “on a mission to Brew Greatness” - to create an impact through our coffee (which we had bought weeks before, from the soon-to-be Poaquil Co-Op in Guatemala, and had physically carried with us in our suitcases) - and that - was more than enough to keep us going!

We have learned and grown so much from those early days, yet the mission and the dream - our Ethos - is still the same (and will always be!)… and are thrilled to now have so many more people - our Ethos family - who now share this dream and this journey with us! So, we really want to celebrate you - and with you - for the next five weeks (or so)!

We’re doing Ethos t-shirts for the first time (well, technically second time, but our first run at t-shirts was a bit disastrous, and we’d prefer its memory to be buried into oblivion) - they were designed by our own super-talented, Alyssa McGuire, and stamped one by one, right here in Lakeland, by Deborah Dodge’s “Wolf in the Shop” startup. We’re also doing a new, limited-edition hat color (ruby red!) and just got new classic black hats as well! - both colors lovingly embroidered in Guatemala by women-owned micro-enterprises. All net proceeds from both shirts and hats will go towards enhancing our annual gifts to two non-profits we have proudly supported over the years - Take Heart Africa and the Cafe Femenino Foundation. Both items will be perfectly paired with an 8-oz bag of our new 5-Year Brew Greatness Anniversary Blend, featuring 3 high-impact coffees from Guatemala, Colombia, and Honduras - the 3 countries (besides our beloved, awesome USA, of course!) we have called “home”, and that have inspired our Ethos to make a difference.

We also have new Ethos totes! Also lovingly made by Guatemalan women, they are larger, sturdier, unique, great-looking - you’ll be able to add one for just $7 to any Brew Greatness Blend, or get one FREE on any order of 5 lbs or more (if you have a particularly nice neighbor or very good friends or family members living close by, now is the time to get some extra coffee for them! 😉), until the end of March. New totes will also be included in all our Samplers from now on!

Last, but not least - we’ll be sending special Brew Greatness bracelets until March 31st - to add a unique design to your collection!

We hope you love all our Anniversary additions, and that it makes you feel a little bit closer to this dream and this mission we share. You are truly family to us, and it means the world when you choose to spread the word about this idea that we actually CAN make a difference through coffee! We are deeply proud and always honored to roast for you, and to Brew Greatness with you every single day… for the past 5 years!

CELEBRATING 2 YEARS!

Ethos is turning TWO! And we have so, SO much to be grateful for, and to celebrate!

We still remember how scared we were when we bought our first 50-lb bag of Specialty, Fair-Trade green coffee to roast, and we thought to ourselves "if this doesn't work out... we may be drinking this coffee for the next two years!" (on the bright side, we'd picked a delicious coffee, so the idea wasn't too unbearable!)... fast-forward two years, and we routinely have days when we roast over 50 lbs! Thank YOU for keeping us roasting & allowing us to discover more amazing coffees!

Ethos began in a very intentional way - we've been focused on making an impact in the lives of farmers and on elevating your coffee excellence since the very beginning (#brewgreatness) - and that is what continues to inspire us every single day. We have so much to celebrate, yet our biggest achievement is perhaps our ability to source, for the first time, a full pallet of coffee from "Poaquil" in Guatemala - paying them THREE times (yes, 3 times!) the market price! (if you want to picture the economic difference that'd make... imagine your next paycheck triples... and stays that way for a whole year!). This one is our most impactful coffee yet, and we couldn't be prouder of bringing you such an outstanding cup! We've also added two new blends in honor of our Lakeland, Florida home - "White Swan" and "Black Swan" - both combine familiar chocolate/nutty coffees with more exotic fruity/floral coffees, for an experience that aims to showcase the best of both worlds.

Over the next few weeks, we'll be sending samples of our new additions, along with special Guatemalan souvenirs from our recent trip! (while supplies last). We also want to invite you to participate in our first "Social Scavenger Hunt" (now until April 15). To win: (1) follow us on Facebook and/or Instagram (or both - we feature different content on each platform!) (2) post TWO (yes, just two!) pics featuring/tagging Ethos (could be two different locations that serve Ethos, including markets/events, OR two different ways/places you brew or enjoy Ethos), (3) review us on Facebook or Google and (4) claim a FREE 8-oz bag of your choice OR Ethos Tote on your next order! (just let us know from which account did you post).

If we keep going this way... in a few years... we might become an "overnight success"!

Thank you for making this journey possible,

- Jolian & Lisbeth

P.S. We're heading to the SCA in Seattle next month to get our second roaster!!! Stay tuned for pics on FB and IG!
